Google Blogoscoped is reporting that two new options have been added to Google’s image search function; namely “clip art” and “line drawings”.
I hopped over to Google to give it a go, but couldn’t see the options on the page.
This is because you have to dig a little deeper and enter the “Advanced Image Search” area – the link sits next to the “search images” button.

Using the image search function in its default state will create a search for any content, in any color and in any size. Using the “advanced image search” function gives much more control. It is possible, for example, to look for a small image of a smiling face, published in jpg format and in full color.
The list below details the options available to searchers using Google’s advanced image search function.
CONTENT TYPES
Any content, news content, faces, photo content, clip art, line drawings
SIZE
Any size, small, medium, large, extra large
FILETYPES
Any filetype, JPG files, GIF files, PNG files, BMP files
COLORATION
Any colors, black and white, grayscale, full color
DOMAIN
Enter a particular domain nameĀ if you want to search a particular website
SAFE SEARCH
No filtering, use moderate filtering, use strict filtering
Image search is a great tool for webmasters, bloggers and anyone else looking to use images within their online or offline projects. Care should always be taken with regard to copyright issues when using images found on the internet in any project.
