Google Chrome Comic Book for Sale on Ebay

by Stephen on September 12, 2008

At the time of writing the first few words of this article, the Google comic book that launched the Google Chrome browser is for sale on ebay is still available, however, there is only 16 minutes left. The current bid is AU $426 (approx £195, US $344, €245).

The comic book that launched Google Chrome was widely available online. A number of printed copies were made available, but it is not known exactly how many were published.

All of the money made from selling the comic book will be donated to charity. The ebay seller says the following on his page:

One copy of the official Google Chrome copy book sent to bloggers and members of the press prior to the launch of Google’s Chrome browser.

I received mine late as they sent it to my PO Box, meaning it couldn’t get to me via courier.

An online copy of the comic book is available on Google here.

This is a limited edition print, and is not publicly available from what I’m aware. With Google Chrome quickly gaining marketshare, the book that launched a Google browser will only increase in value with time.

I’ve briefly flicked through the book, but it hasn’t been shared around, so consider the condition mint.

Given it wouldn’t be fair to profit from something sent to me directly, all proceeds after costs (ebay + paypal costs) will be donated to charity, split 50/ 50 between Beth Kanter and Beyond Blue.

Note to the eBay gods: neither organization has been contacted yet on the donation, however I’ll stand by a post I’ll be making on this and my name in terms of the money heading in the right direction.

Will post to North America, Europe or Australia. Paypal prefered for payment, although will accept a bank deposit in Australia. Serious bidders only please.

Make a bid! – TOO LATE!

Update:
The Google Chrome Comic Book finally sold on Ebay for AU $454.99 (approx £207, US $366, €260). All of the money will be going to charity, as advised by the seller, Duncan Riley.

Techcrunch also has a couple of the printed verisons available and is auctioning one for charity through the website. The current bid there is US $450.
