Title Tweaks is the name of a new Gmail Labs release which allows you to monitor the amount of unread emails within your Gmail account without having to have the tab open.
When Title Tweaks is disabled the browser tab will say “Google Mail – Inbox (7) – emailaddress@gmail.com“. This is showing you the website name, the amount of unread emails in your inbox and the email address associated with the account. Title Tweaks simply changes the order this information is displayed. When enabled you will see “Inbox (7) – emailaddress@gmail.com.” The number will change as new items are delivered and allows you to crack on with other work without having to constantly check the tab for new mail.
How to enable Title Tweaks
Log into Gmail and click on settings in the top right hand corner. If you have another Labs function enabled you will see the little green bottle which indicates lab experiments (what are they called?); click on that.
Now click on Labs.
Scroll down until you see Title Tweaks.
Click on the enable radio button and save.
