How to enable Windows Vista sidebar

by Stephen on August 2, 2008

The Sidebar on Windows Vista is very useful. It can display gadgets such as a CPU usage meter, news feeds, clock, sticky notes, Wi-Fi monitor and weather reports to name a few. There are times however when the full screen needs to be viewed and the Vista Sidebar needs to be turned off. This is a simple task (right click on the sidebar and select Close Sidebar). Once the sidebar has been turned off, the procedure for turning it back on again is not quite so obvious. This is how you do it:

  1. Click on the Windows icon in the bottom left hand corner of the screen
  2. Type Sidebar into the start menu’s search area
  3. Click Windows Sidebar from the available options
