Darren Rowse from ProBlogger is offering bloggers the opportunity to join him in the “31 Days to Build a Better Blog” challenge.
The project starts on 1 April and it looks like future projects will continue the biennial vein which has been created by the space in-between the previous challenges.
You do not need to register to participate, but Darren is saying there is some further advice and more in depth information available to those people who do register.
What is the idea behind the 31 Days to Build a Better Blog challenge?
Simple – focus.
The idea behind this is simply to have a group of bloggers setting aside a month of their time to work at improving their blogs. While we all want to have better blogs sometimes it becomes one of those things that we’re going to do…. one day.
I personally find that I improve (in all areas of my life) when I’m more intentional and set aside a specific time to make the improvements. That’s what this project is about.
How will the project work?
Each day of the challenge participants will recieve and email from Darren and part of that email will appear as a post on the ProBlogger blog. There will be two parts – a teaching component and a practical component (theory and homework).
The idea is that often teaching remains in the realm of theory and doesn’t actually prompt those digesting it to DO something. This project is more about DOING than learning. I hope you will learn, but to be honest if you’ve been blogging for a while some of what we’ll cover many will have heard before – but this project will give you a framework and hopefully some inspiration to put what you know into action.
Some of the tasks will be similar to previous years tasks and some will be new (some things never change so there will always be some overlap). Some tasks will be more relevant to some bloggers than others so you may not choose to do all of them but they will be on a variety of areas of blogging including writing content, interacting with readers, finding new readers, design, tools etc.
If you would like to sign up the to project you can do so here. Remember, you do not have to sign up to take part, but having the daily challenge sent to your inbox may be more of an incentive to continue should you become apathetic, and the email act as a reminder should you forget signed up!
I think Darren has a lot to teach. He was a one of the very first professional bloggers and he has an online demeanour that is not overly pushy. He has learnt a lot during his time online and has several very successful blogs to show for his efforts. If you are serious about your blog and want to learn how to make it a success, you should listen to Darren Rowse and follow his advice.
