Twitbin Screencast from brbreslin on Vimeo.
Twitbin is a Firefox plugin I have had installed for a while. I haven’t used it in ages and I had forgotten all about it until I noticed the little icon in the bottom right hand corner of my browser. I clicked the icon to see what it was for and Twitbin opened up in the browser sidebar.
I seem to remember it not working too well when I used it last, and if that is the case, the problems Twitbin were experiencing have now been resolved as it works like a dream and is exactly what I have been looking for.
I spend most of my time either in a browser or in Dreamweaver and have been looking for an application I could use with Twitter without having to minimize windows or open up another application. Twitbin does exactly this. I can log into my account and monitor what is happening without having to navigate to another Firefox tab or open another browser window. The feed will automatically refresh itself every two minutes (this can be changed to suit your personal preference to 3, 5, 8, 10 or 15 minutes).
There are several options available to you with regards to the Twitter timeline you want to follow – you can follow friends, replies, direct message, favourites or the public timeline.
I have used TweetDeck and a few other applications with my Twitter account, but so far, Twitbin is the best for me.
