Twitter Fail Whale in Lego

The Twitter Fail Whale has become a familiar image to all users of Twitter; it pops up when the Twitter system experiences by a period of downtime or a system hiccup.
A new version of the image has now appeared on flickr, this time made from Lego!

The Lego version of the now iconic Fail Whale image was created by Bjarne Panduro Tveskov (aka tveskov).

Yiying Lu on flickrThe original image, entitled Lifting A Dreamer, was created by Sydney based artist and designer, Yiying Lu, for an electronic birthday card to be sent to a friend overseas.

Yiying uploaded the image to iStockPhoto and it was there that Biz Stone of Twitter found it. He liked the way the image portrayed an expression of team work to resolve a problem and bought a licence to use the image on a worldwide basis.

Since that time the Twitter Fail Whale has built up quite an online following including it’s own fan club, Facebook group, Twitter account and Zazzle store.
